What can we help with

While there isn’t an exhaustive list of the documents that we can witness and sign, we have detailed the most common documents where a Commissioner of Oath is vitally important. These include:

Our Fees

The following are prescribed fees.

  • For affirming an affidavit or declaration and affirmation in a document, for each signature – £5.00
  • In addition, for each exhibit therein referred to and required – £2.00;

The fees are inclusive of VAT, and payments must be made in cash.

The documents would need to be signed in our offices.

What is a commissioner of oaths?

A commissioner of oaths is an authorised lawyer appointed by the Lord Chancellor to administer oaths and take affidavits. They are authorised to witness legal documents and administer oaths and affirmations.

Is a commissioner of oaths the same as a notary

A commissioner of oaths is not the same as a notary, although similar in terms of powers, there are key differences. Commissioners of Oaths are regulated by the Lord Chancellor, while a Notary Public is regulated by the Archbishop of Canterbury.  Before asking us to sign or witness anything, you need to ensure that we can do what you are asking.
